The KCEDC is excited to share the wonderful news about multiple economic investments happening right here in Kewaunee County!
In an interview with Local 5 on February 23, 2021, Kewaunee Mayor Jason Jelinek shared news about several new businesses recently opened in, or coming soon to, the City of Kewaunee.
One major announcement is that Tractor Supply Company will be moving into the former Shopko building located at 802 N. Main St. The building has been vacant since 2019 when Shopko filed for bankruptcy protection and closed all 360 of its stores. According to a comment by the City on a post on its Facebook page there is a tentative open date of June.
In addition to Tractor Supply Company, several new businesses are adding to the diverse business landscape in Kewaunee County. Just to name a few, Hippielicious, LLC (tie dye, Boho clothing and accessories, coffee, baked goods), Perry’s (antiques, glass cutting, key making), and West Shore Nutrition (health conscious quick bites, fuel and drinks) are all now calling the City of Kewaunee home.
Kewaunee also received a $1.7 community development block grant which will be used to make necessary improvements and repairs to three properties including Fisherman’s Point.
With the completion of Kewaunee’s boat launch and plans to raise the campground to get the ground up higher, both should be open for the 2021 season.
Bruemmer Park Zoo continues its improvement and expansion plans with an expansive pheasant exhibit scheduled to break ground in 2021. This is made possible with the help of a $100,000 donation from Steve Bruemmer and matching donations by Kewaunee County and the Zoological Society of Kewaunee County.
