2014 KCEDC Ag Career Days Reaches More Youth

The Kewaunee County Economic Development Corporation (KCEDC) celebrated youth and the agriculture industry at one of the largest on-farm “Ag” career events in the state of Wisconsin on April 10th and 11th at Pagel’s Ponderosa Dairy. Over 1,200 students, educators and volunteers from five school districts visited Pagel’s Ponderosa Dairy to gain an better understanding of the critical role the agriculture industry plays in our regional, national and global economy.

Seventh and eighth grade students from Algoma, Denmark, Kewaunee, Luxemburg-Casco, and Southern Door school districts participated in the exciting career exploration opportunity which showcased the numerous career opportunites available in agriculture. Ag Career Days highlighted a wide range of careers including; agronomy, milk testing, cheese making, cropping, animal nutrition, agriculture support services, robotics and technology and many more. Careers were organized into four career- clusters, with thirty-two (32) different career stations. The informative day also included a tour of Pagel’s Ponderosa Dairy. The two-day career event was made possible through the generous support of Pagel’s Ponderosa Dairy and countless other sponsors. Students, educators and guests were treated nutritional dairy snacks, lunch and t-shirts. In addition, educational passports were distributed to engage students in learning activities at each career station visited.
