The Kemcdheaderwaunee County Economic Development Corporation (KCEDC) and the Northeast WI Manufacturing Alliance (NEWMA) welcomed over 300 students and educators to Kewaunee County’s first onsite manufacturing career exploration event hosted by D&S Machine Service, Inc. and N.E.W. Plastics Corporation on October 24, 2016. Ninth grade students from Algoma, Kewaunee and Luxemburg-Casco School Districts visited D&S Machine Service, Inc. and N.E.W. Plastics Corporation to explore numerous career opportunities available in plastics and metals manufacturing. Students also received a glimpse into the modern manufacturing work environment.

Kewaunee County Manufacturing Career Day included the exploration of four manufacturing operations including D&S Machine Service, Inc. (manufacturing and fabrication facilities) and N.E.W. Plastics Corporation (RENEW Plastics). Students were introduced to variety of careers in manufacturing; process improvement, engineering, operation management, scheduling, customer service, maintenance, purchasing, welding and warehousing. With opportunities to explore a wide-range of careers in manufacturing, Kewaunee County Manufacturing Career Day will help area students begin to identify how their interests relate to potential future careers.
